The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) is set to provide free Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) from January to December 2025, offering learners a chance to enhance their skills and knowledge without any cost.
In an announcement via Facebook, UPOU stated that it will deliver 44 free courses covering a diverse range of topics to promote personal and professional growth. These MOOCs are self-paced and open to everyone, with electronic certificates provided upon completion, which can be added to resumes as proof of “16-hour training.”
The courses span a variety of subjects, including climate resilience, entrepreneurship, education, technology, child protection, and business. For January, participants can enroll in courses such as Basics of Resilience, Hazard and Risk Assessment Fundamentals, and Overview of Policies and Strategies for Climate and Disaster Resilience. February will feature offerings like Social Entrepreneurship, Principles of Graphic Design, and Creativity and Innovation.
Courses in March include Introduction to Open Distance and eLearning (ODeL), Strategic Planning in ODeL, Understanding the Child Better, Resilience Strategies, and AI Essentials: Theory and Practice. April will offer topics like Project Management, Scriptwriting for Educational Video Materials, and Maging Mapanuring Botante at Mamamayan.
May’s schedule includes Teaching and Learning with Modern ICTs, Business Analytics, and Online Mother’s Class on Newborn and Infant Care. Gender Sensitivity Training, AI in Education, and Creating Educational Materials Using PowToon are among the courses for June. July will revisit core ODeL topics and introduce courses on Fundamentals of Marketing and E-Commerce Essentials.
In August, participants can explore Planning Programs on Child Rights Protection, Interactive Educational Video Production, and Quality Assurance in ODeL. September and October will highlight advanced teaching strategies, video editing, and entrepreneurship concepts. For November and December, the courses include Understanding Business Accounting, Leadership Skills, and Rights of Nature.
