Authorities in Abu Dhabi have announced the detection of dozens of unsafe and contaminated products this year, ranging from cosmetics and stimulants to dietary supplements and weight loss products.
The Department of Health (DoH) in Abu Dhabi discovered 116 products contaminated with yeast, mould, bacteria, or heavy metals. Some of these items were found to contain “undeclared pharmaceutical substances” that pose significant health risks, according to a Khaleej Times report, citing the Arabic daily Emarat Al Youm.
Additionally, the report noted that several products were produced under unhygienic conditions.
The findings come from the DoH’s evaluation of 3,004 products this year. The authority has released a comprehensive list of all contaminated products and has warned the public against purchasing or using them. This list is available on the DoH’s official website.
