Former senator and Liberal Party senatorial candidate Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan on Wednesday denied reports linking him to the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas, the coalition supported by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The denial came after speculations surfaced that Pangilinan and fellow candidate Bam Aquino were being eyed by Alyansa following Sen. Imee Marcos’ exit from the slate.
“There have been no discussions between my camp and Alyansa,” Pangilinan clarified in a statement. “Our campaign remains independent and centered on addressing high food prices and pushing for food security.”
He added that the issue goes beyond political affiliations or party colors: “We are open to working with anyone, whether from Alyansa, PDP, or other groups, in the name of Filipino families struggling to afford basic food.”
Alyansa campaign manager and Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco also denied any ongoing talks, saying he had not met with either Pangilinan or Aquino.
