Employees in the UAE might have enjoyed their last extended weekend of 2023, as they gear up to begin work on Monday, October 2.
According to the official holiday calendar, the forthcoming break will be for the UAE National Day on December 2 and 3. These dates coincide with the regular weekend, being on a Saturday and Sunday.
Notably, the UAE Commemoration Day, earlier referred to as Martyrs’ Day, is marked on December 1. For 2023, this falls on a Friday. Even though this occasion isn’t included in the official 2023 holiday list, it has been recognized in the past with a declared holiday for employees from both sectors.
The final count of holidays will rely on formal announcements by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE). Residents are advised to hold off on making plans until these announcements are made.
During the National Day, the country is set to be illuminated with breathtaking fireworks and grand celebrations, ensuring an unforgettable conclusion to the year.
For those already looking ahead to 2024, there’s the anticipated long break for Eid Al Fitr, expected around April 10, following the Holy Month of Ramadan, which is predicted to start in the second week of March. However, the exact dates will be confirmed based on the sighting of the crescent Moon, as the Islamic Hijri calendar depends on moon phases, resulting in months lasting either 29 or 30 days.
