UAE’s Jebel Jais sees frost and ice at 2.2°C, coldest day recorded

The UAE experienced its coldest day this winter on Friday, as temperatures dropped to a chilly 2.2°C on Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). Frost and ice crystals were spotted on the mountain, delighting residents.

Footage shared by NCM shows ice crystals floating down a stream and a car covered in ice pellets.

The UAE’s winter season occasionally brings frosty conditions to high-altitude areas like Jebel Jais and Raknah in Al Ain, with sub-zero temperatures occasionally transforming these spots into popular tourist destinations. The cold spell was accompanied by rain showers across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, and Ras Al Khaimah.
