UAE weather: More rains expected in parts of the country until Sunday — NCM

Rain showers swept across several parts of the UAE on Friday, with both heavy and light rainfall recorded along the Al-Bithnah-Al-Farfar road in Fujairah, Dubai-Al Ain road, and Al-Hayer road, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). The agency has forecast that wet weather may persist through Sunday, especially in eastern and southern regions.

For Saturday, the NCM said skies will remain clear to partly cloudy, with a chance of convective clouds forming in the east and south, which may bring additional rain. Coastal and western inland areas are expected to experience humidity on Saturday night into Sunday morning, increasing the likelihood of fog or light fog formation.

Winds will blow from the southeast to northeast, ranging from light to moderate, and may pick up during the day, stirring dust at speeds of 10 to 25 km/h and reaching up to 40 km/h. Sea conditions will remain generally calm, with light waves in the Arabian Gulf and light to moderate waves at times in the Sea of Oman.

This shifting weather pattern is attributed to a weak surface low-pressure system from the east, coupled with an upper-air high-pressure system, the NCM explained.

On Sunday, similar conditions are expected—clear to partly cloudy skies, with chances of rain in eastern and southern areas during the afternoon. Humidity will linger into Sunday night and Monday morning, particularly in western areas, again bringing the possibility of fog.

By Monday, the forecast remains steady with partly cloudy weather and potential afternoon rain in the east and south. Humidity may persist overnight, and light fog could form by Tuesday morning.

Wind speeds are expected to remain between 10 to 25 km/h, reaching up to 35 km/h during active spells. Daytime temperatures will range from 34°C to 40°C, while nighttime lows may fall between 27°C and 34°C. The sea is expected to remain light in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman throughout the forecast period.
