UAE warns residents against buying from illegal street vendors

Sharjah Municipality issued a warning on Thursday, advising residents not to purchase from illegal street vendors or unregulated pop-up shops in the UAE, Khaleej Times reported.

The municipality cautioned that these vendors often sell items at very low prices, but the products are frequently counterfeit or expired, posing serious health risks.

Authorities have been actively cracking down on such operations, with over 620 violations recorded across more than 4,000 inspections since 2023. In one major case in Ras Al Khaimah, two warehouses were found storing fake branded cosmetics, including shampoos and lipsticks, valued at Dh23 million.
