The UAE has issued a call to all Muslims within the country to watch for the crescent moon on Monday evening, April 8. This sighting coincides with Ramadan 29 (1445 AH) in the Islamic calendar. The sighting of the Shawwal moon marks the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan and signals the onset of Eid Al Fitr celebrations.
Should the crescent be observed, Ramadan would conclude at 29 days, ushering in Eid Al Fitr on Tuesday, April 9. Conversely, if the moon remains unseen, Ramadan will extend to 30 days, with Eid Al Fitr occurring on April 10.
Regardless of the moon sighting outcome, the holiday will commence on Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29), for all residents of the UAE. Eid Al Fitr will subsequently fall on either April 9 or 10, contingent upon the confirmation of the moon sighting.
In tandem, Saudi Arabia has also encouraged Muslims to actively search for the crescent moon on Thursday night, further emphasizing the significance of the lunar observation in determining the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid Al Fitr festivities.
