The UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (UAEICP) has rolled out a significant update for Emirates ID holders.
As per the new directive, any modifications to residency information will immediately necessitate a replacement request for the Emirates ID. This move is to ensure the accurate reflection of residents’ information on their identification cards.
Moreover, the UAEICP has simplified the procedure for residents wanting to amend details on their Emirates ID card. The intent behind this initiative is to improve the ease and speed of service for customers seeking to update their identification records.
Residents in the UAE can now make these updates online. With the aid of the authority’s digital platforms, including its official website and smart application, residents can swiftly adjust their residency details. This covers changes such as personal data, professional titles, passport details, and any changes in nationality after obtaining a new citizenship.
Access to these digital platforms is seamless. Users can simply log in with their UAE Pass or username credentials. Once in, they can select the needed service, input their details, and finalize the process with the requisite payment.
However, those who prefer an offline approach can visit authorized customer happiness centers or approved typing offices. They will need to present a color photo, a passport copy, a sponsor’s data amendment request, and copies of both sides of the Emirates ID card.
The cost for availing this service is AED200. This includes AED100 for smart services, AED50 for the processing, and another AED50 for e-services and the federal authority charges.
It’s worth noting that applications with incorrect or incomplete documentation will be denied within 30 days. If an application is returned three times for the same errors, it will be rejected. Refunds in cases of rejection will be processed to the original credit card within six months. If not, checks or bank transfers are available options.
Lastly, UAEICP has made it clear that these guidelines can change without prior notice.
