The UAE is set to expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, with plans to install over 500 new charging stations by the end of 2025. The initiative, announced by Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, aims to support clean transportation and cut carbon emissions.
Al Olama revealed that more than 100 charging stations were already set up across the country in 2024, responding to the growing demand for EVs. The expansion is being carried out in collaboration with private sector partners and local authorities to ensure a reliable and efficient network.
Beyond EV infrastructure, the UAE is also working towards increasing its renewable energy capacity to over 14 gigawatts by 2030 as part of its long-term sustainability goals.
