Taxi drivers in the UAE were recently rewarded for their exemplary driving records, receiving up to Dh3,000 for maintaining a spotless record for an entire year. This commendation was part of the annual Traffic Safety Award, a joint initiative by Osool Transport Solutions and Sharjah Taxi.
The awarded drivers demonstrated remarkable commitment to road safety, with no registered traffic violations, accidents, or complaints for a 12-month span. To qualify for the award, participants had to clock over 100,000km in the past year, adhere strictly to traffic rules, and guarantee complete passenger satisfaction.
The Traffic Safety Award is divided into three tiers: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Each category has specific benchmarks for driving distance and standards.
Khaled Al Kindi, general manager of Sharjah Taxi, commented during the award ceremony: “Our goal with the Traffic Safety Award is to motivate drivers to embrace safe driving habits and consequently lower the number of traffic mishaps.” The initiative also aims to boost public awareness about the importance of road safety.
