In response to the devastating landslides and floods caused by Typhoon Carina, the UAE has dispatched a relief aid plane to the Philippines. This action follows directives from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and is part of the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to support countries in times of need.
Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, highlighted the UAE’s commitment to providing urgent humanitarian support globally. She stated, “The directives of the UAE President to dispatch aid to the Philippines demonstrate the dedication of the UAE to the values of solidarity and partnership, as well as its continuous commitment to extending a helping hand during crises and natural disasters.”
Al Hashimy emphasized the UAE’s solidarity with the Philippines, noting the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. She expressed confidence in the Philippines’ ability to manage and recover from the disaster, adding, “The people of the UAE stand in solidarity with the people of the Philippines in confronting the repercussions of the typhoon. This reflects the country’s support and appreciation for the Filipino community living in the UAE, who contribute to the development and growth of the country.”
The UAE’s relief efforts aim to provide urgent aid, including food supplies, shelter materials, and medical equipment, to address the disaster’s impact, which resulted in several deaths and displaced thousands of people now residing in temporary evacuation centers. The aid specifically targets the capital Manila and regions such as Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Central Luzon, and Bangsamoro, which were severely affected by the typhoon.
