The UAE has achieved a remarkable Guinness World Record for the longest line of sustainable pizzas, prepared at the Dubai Festival Bay Intercontinental Hotel. This milestone not only showcases the nation’s dedication to innovation and sustainability but also reflects its commitment to giving back to the community.
The event, sponsored by Italfood, highlighted the fusion of tradition and modernity. Italfood’s representative emphasized the importance of sustainability and community outreach, stating, “Breaking the record for the longest pizza while focusing on sustainability demonstrates how culinary excellence can drive positive change.”
Italfood, established in 1955, prides itself on crafting high-quality cheese using natural ingredients and traditional Italian methods. For this record-breaking event, their products, made fresh daily from locally sourced Emirati milk, played a crucial role.
A unique feature of the pizzas was the use of filtered seawater, an ingredient enriched with essential minerals and nutrients. According to Dr. Vincenzo Di Donna, who spearheaded this innovation, “Using seawater enhances both the flavor and nutritional value of the pizza, aligning with our commitment to sustainable gastronomy.”
Beyond the record, the initiative had a charitable aim. A portion of the pizzas was donated to those in need, with proceeds supporting local charities like the Dubai Charity Association and Hifz Al Niaama. Hifz Al Niaama, established in 2004, focuses on reducing food waste by collecting surplus meals from events and distributing them to underprivileged families.
