The UAE dispatched 68 tonnes of food and relief supplies to Gaza Strip via Al Areesh, Egypt, on Friday. This initiative is part of the broader “Tarahum — for Gaza” campaign, coordinated in conjunction with the UN World Food Programme (WFP).
The aid aims to support Palestinians in Gaza, particularly the vulnerable sections affected by the ongoing conflict. Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations Affairs, highlighted the UAE’s commitment to aiding the Palestinian people. He stated, “Through our cooperation with international organisations, like the WFP, we are actively working to provide necessary support to the Palestinians in Gaza Strip.”
In addition, the “Tarahum — for Gaza” campaign is organizing events to prepare 25,000 relief packages. These events, scheduled in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, will witness participation from volunteers across the UAE, including from public and private institutions. Notably, the initial event on October 15 at Abu Dhabi Ports Hall resulted in over 4,500 volunteers creating 13,000 relief packages.
The campaign, monitored by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and collaborating closely with the Emirates Red Crescent Authority and the WFP, also works alongside the Ministry of Community Development.
