UAE sends $2.5 billion aid to Gaza, among world’s biggest humanitarian drives

The UAE has emerged as one of the biggest global donors responding to the ongoing Gaza crisis, channeling $2.57 billion (Dh9.4 billion) in relief assistance, according to Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President Dr. Anwar Gargash.

Sharing the figures in a post on X, Dr. Gargash outlined the breadth of the aid mission, which has ranged from life-saving medical care to large-scale food and water support. He stressed that the country’s contribution represents more than 40 percent of all international humanitarian assistance directed to Gaza, highlighting what he described as the UAE’s long-standing commitment to supporting civilians during conflict.

The aid effort has included over 100,000 tonnes of urgent supplies delivered through 712 relief flights and 221 airdrops, in addition to 10,000 trucks and 21 ships transporting essential goods. Medical assistance has been a key focus, with 2,961 injured individuals, cancer patients, and children from Gaza brought to UAE hospitals, while doctors at the UAE field hospital inside the enclave treated 53,375 people. Another 20,990 patients received care aboard the UAE’s floating hospital in Egypt’s Al Arish.

Basic needs support continues daily, with the UAE supplying 2 million gallons of water for one million people, baking bread for 76,000 people each day, and distributing meals for 286,000 residents through 50 community kitchens.

“Thanks and appreciation to the UAE teams for their humanitarian efforts in Gaza,” Dr. Gargash wrote. “This is the UAE, a stance, humanity, and generosity.”

The UAE remains active in coordinating air, land, and sea aid corridors to ensure steady access to civilians in Gaza as humanitarian conditions worsen amid continued hostilities.
