The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has introduced an upgraded version of the AlHosn app to foster a substantial increase in child vaccination rates nationwide.
Initially established as a contract tracing and COVID-19 health testing platform, AlHosn has evolved to become the national digital space for all vaccination records, offering detailed data for children from birth up until the age of 18.
The innovative update grants families the ability to effortlessly monitor their children’s vaccination statuses, thereby encouraging adherence to the UAE’s National Immunisation Programme.
The centralized digital repository promises “accurate and reliable information,” thanks to the cooperative initiatives of MoHAP and local health entities.
Dr Hussain Al Rand, the assistant undersecretary for Public Health at MoHAP, heralded the revamp as a “significant stride” in the continued smart evolution of the nation’s health sector.
It aims to streamline the accessibility of vaccination records, aligning with the UAE government’s requirement of vaccinating children from birth through to Grade 11.
The immunisation regimen encompasses vaccinations against a series of diseases including tuberculosis, hepatitis B, polio, and tetanus, among others.
Dr. Al Rand emphasized the government’s steadfast dedication to employing smart technologies to enhance communication channels with community members, ensuring maximum health coverage and maintaining elevated vaccination rates.
“Vaccinations are instrumental in protecting children’s health and bolstering community immunity, standing as one of the most effective prevention strategies against infectious diseases,” noted Al Rand.
