The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has released a newly designed Dhs100 polymer banknote that reflects the nation’s journey of progress while honoring its cultural heritage.
Featuring enhanced security elements and printed using advanced technology, the new note showcases the Um Al Quwain National Fort on the front and highlights the Port of Fujairah and Etihad Rail on the back—symbols of the country’s past, present, and future.
The banknote maintains the familiar pink/red color of the previous version to ensure public recognition and features Braille markings to support individuals with visual impairments.
Made from durable polymer, the note is expected to last twice as long as the older paper version. It also includes a state-of-the-art KINEGRAM COLORS chip to combat counterfeiting.
CBUAE Governor Khaled Mohamed Balama said the launch coincides with Eid Al Fitr, aligning with the UAE’s sustainability goals and financial innovation efforts. Both the new and old notes will continue to circulate, with banks and exchange houses instructed to update their systems for smooth processing.
