The UAE Cyber Security Council has issued a pressing advisory to Apple product users in the region. In an announcement made via the Ministry of Interior’s official social media channels, the council “strongly recommends” that residents and citizens promptly download the latest iOS updates to prevent hackers from accessing and obtaining sensitive information from their devices.
The security updates, notably iOS17.1 for iPhones, were launched on October 25. These updates come with enhanced security patches for a broad range of Apple products, including iPhones, Apple Watches, iPads, Mac laptops, Apple TVs, and the Safari browser.
Furthermore, the council has not restricted its caution to Apple devices alone. A “critical warning” has also been broadcasted concerning “high-risk vulnerabilities” in the widely-used Google Chrome browser. Users are urged to install the latest updates for Chrome to ensure the security of their devices.
Recent global surveys indicate that the majority of active internet users prefer Chrome, with its usage typically exceeding 60% of the total browser market share.
