The UAE is solidifying its reputation as a top global travel destination, with winter emerging as the busiest season for tourism. As part of its Tourism Strategy 2031, the country aims to attract AED100 billion in investments and host 40 million hotel guests.
According to a WAM report, citing the 2024 Travel & Tourism Development Index by the World Economic Forum, the UAE climbed seven spots from the previous edition, ranking 18th globally and first in the region. It also remains the only Middle Eastern country among the top 10 nations in international tourism revenue. The World Travel & Tourism Council reports that the UAE welcomed 29.2 million international tourists last year, reflecting a 15.5% increase from 2023. Projections suggest that by 2033, this figure will reach 45.5 million.
Winter is the most popular season for tourists, thanks to the UAE’s mild weather and diverse attractions, including scenic landscapes, cultural sites, and outdoor adventures. The recently launched fifth edition of the World’s Coolest Winter campaign showcases the country’s rich heritage and unique travel experiences, attracting visitors from around the world.
With its warm climate and varied terrain, the UAE offers everything from desert safaris and mountain hikes to stargazing and traditional Bedouin experiences. Danish tourist Liam Andrew, visiting with his wife Emma, described their winter getaway as unforgettable. “We had an amazing time hiking, camping, and exploring the wadis and historical sites. The souks were filled with handcrafted treasures, and the rich aroma of incense added to the enchanting experience.”
