Public sector employees in the UAE will have a long weekend to mark the country’s 53rd National Day, also known as Eid Al Etihad. The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has declared December 2 (Monday) and December 3 (Tuesday) as paid holidays for workers in ministries and federal entities. Regular working hours will resume on Wednesday, December 4.
National Day, observed annually on December 2, commemorates the UAE’s formation in 1971, when six emirates united to establish the country. Ras Al Khaimah joined the union in early 1972.
The announcement aligns with a UAE Cabinet resolution that standardizes public holidays across the public and private sectors. The celebrations will follow Commemoration Day on November 30, a day of reflection for those who lost their lives in service to the nation.
