The Emirates Foundation for School Education has opened registration for the next academic year in government schools for specific categories of non-citizens. These categories include citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, children of diplomats, holders of Emirati passports, decree holders, and holders of Comoros passports.
In public schools, the primary language of instruction is Arabic, with English taught as a second language focused on basic grammar and comprehension. These schools follow the Emirati national curriculum and are overseen by the Ministry of Education.
According to a Gulf News report, eligible students can enroll from Grades 2 to 12 if they meet certain conditions, including having a parent employed in a government, semi-government, or local entity, maintaining a grade of at least 85% in Arabic, English, and Mathematics, and possessing a valid UAE residence visa. Additionally, the number of non-citizen students is capped at 20% of the total student population in each classroom.
Parents wishing to use school transportation services must indicate this in their registration application to ensure availability. Necessary documents, especially those issued outside the UAE, must be officially certified by relevant authorities, including the UAE Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. For GCC citizens, certification from accredited educational institutions suffices.
The Emirates Foundation emphasizes that tuition fees are capped and must be paid on time, with schools having the right to withhold results and transfer certificates if fees are not settled. More information on admission criteria can be found on the Emirates School Establishment website.
