Thirteen inmates in Sharjah have been released after their outstanding debts were settled under a humanitarian initiative of the Sharjah Police General Command in cooperation with the Faraj Fund.
The release took place during the 21st Family Forum organized by the Punitive and Correctional Institutions Department. The event brought together officials, including Brigadier Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, Director General of the General Department of Community Protection and Prevention, and Brigadier Abdullah Rashid Al Layy, Director of the Punitive and Correctional Institutions Department.
Brigadier Dr. Al Naour said the forum is part of the force’s broader mission to “strengthen family ties and achieve social balance,” stressing that rehabilitation goes beyond legal matters to include psychological, social, and humanitarian aspects.
Brigadier Al Layy described the initiative as a vital step towards giving inmates “a new opportunity,” urging them to use it to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their families and communities.
The forum also featured activities allowing inmates to interact with their families in a supportive environment, reflecting Sharjah Police’s commitment to the human dimension of correctional and rehabilitation programs.
