President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has declared 2026 as the Year of Family, highlighting the family’s vital role as the cornerstone of the nation’s stability, progress, and shared values.
The announcement came as Sheikh Mohamed attended the UAE Government Annual Meetings in Abu Dhabi, where officials reviewed and approved the National Family Growth Agenda 2031, a strategic framework aimed at nurturing cohesive, resilient households across the country.
In a post on his official X account, Sheikh Mohamed stated, “Today, I attended part of the UAE Government Annual Meetings, during which we approved the National Family Growth Agenda 2031 as a long-term strategic vision and a national framework for addressing this vital issue for both our present and future.”
He emphasized that the future being built for the UAE begins with the family, noting, “The family is a cornerstone of the nation’s strength and prosperity, and for that reason, its growth, stability and effectiveness are a shared responsibility and an urgent priority to ensure the sustainability of society.”
The President’s directive to dedicate 2026 as the Year of Family aims to deepen public understanding of the family’s role in shaping the nation’s identity, culture, and future. It also seeks to promote unity, compassion, and cooperation among Emiratis and residents alike—values that have long been at the heart of the UAE’s social fabric.
During the session, senior officials and leaders from federal and local entities reaffirmed their commitment to advancing initiatives that strengthen family ties and safeguard the values passed on to future generations.
