UAE police issue AED400 fine for tailgaters in new traffic safety campaign

Ras Al Khaimah Police are emphasizing road safety with the launch of their new campaign, urging motorists to “Drive with caution and leave a safe distance.” The campaign aims to promote safer roads by encouraging drivers to maintain a proper gap between vehicles.

On their official Twitter account, the police authority specified that the recommended distance between vehicles ranges from 5m to 10m. As driving speeds rise, this distance should increase by increments of 5m.

The police highlighted that as per Ministerial Resolution No. 178 and Item No. 52 of the schedule of violations, those failing to maintain adequate space between cars will be penalized with a Dh400 fine. Additionally, offenders will receive four traffic point deductions.

This initiative is part of Ras Al Khaimah Police’s ongoing dedication to enhancing road safety in the UAE. Drivers are encouraged to heed these guidelines for the well-being of all road users.
