UAE pledges $1.2 billion in aid to support Gaza recovery

A $1.2 billion assistance package has been allocated by the United Arab Emirates to support civilians in Gaza, marking one of its most substantial humanitarian commitments in the region in recent years.

The funding, announced by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, will be delivered through a framework referred to as the “Board of Peace.” The mechanism is intended to coordinate relief and reconstruction efforts in partnership with regional and international entities.

According to officials, the allocation will cover a range of urgent and long-term needs. These include immediate humanitarian relief, medical treatment and the rehabilitation of healthcare facilities, food provision, access to essential goods, rebuilding damaged housing, and assistance programs focused on displaced families and children.

Authorities said distribution will take place through structured channels designed to accelerate implementation while maintaining accountability. The approach is aimed at addressing immediate humanitarian pressures while also contributing to recovery and rebuilding efforts.

The move was described as consistent with the UAE’s broader diplomatic push for de-escalation and regional stability. Emirati officials have framed the initiative as part of ongoing efforts to link humanitarian response with structured reconstruction planning.

The country has maintained a prominent role in aid operations across the Middle East, frequently ranking among the region’s leading contributors to relief programs. Through institutions such as the Emirates Red Crescent, assistance has included food distribution, medical services, and rebuilding projects in conflict-affected communities.

In recent months, Emirati missions have involved air deliveries of medical supplies, the deployment of field hospitals, and coordinated operations intended to ease the impact of the crisis on civilians.
