UAE passport climbs to 8th place globally, now grants visa-free access to 184 countries and territories

The UAE has secured 8th place in the latest Henley Passport Index, marking a significant milestone as the only Arab nation in the top 10. With visa-free access to 184 countries, the UAE passport has seen remarkable growth, climbing from 32nd position in 2015—making it the biggest gainer in the past decade.

Since the index’s launch in 2006, the UAE has made significant strides, moving up from 62nd place, reflecting the country’s strategic efforts to strengthen global mobility for its citizens.

Singapore retains the top spot, granting visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 193 destinations, while South Korea and Japan follow in second place with access to 190 countries. Several European nations, including Germany, Spain, and France, occupy third place with 187 destinations each.

Other non-European countries in the top 10 include Australia (6th with 189 destinations), Canada (7th with 188), and the US (9th with 186).

China also made significant gains, rising from 94th place in 2015 to 59th. Meanwhile, Venezuela recorded the largest decline, dropping 42 spots to 44th place. The US also saw a slide, moving from second place to ninth.
