An Egyptian manager has filed a Dh1 million lawsuit against a female driver after a five-car pile-up resulted in his permanent disability. The claim was lodged in the Sharjah Civil Court, seeking compensation for medical, physical, financial, and mental damages.
According to Khaleej Times, last week, the Sharjah Traffic Court found the Emirati woman guilty of reckless and inattentive driving, causing the accident. She was fined Dh1,000 and the civil lawsuit was referred to the relevant court.
The incident occurred on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. The defendant unlawfully veered from the extreme right lane to the left, colliding with a vehicle, which led to a chain reaction involving four other cars. The Egyptian manager was in the third car.
The manager’s lawyer, Hani Hammouda Hagag, stated that his client suffered a “closed dislocation of the left acromioclavicular joint,” resulting in a disabled shoulder. He has since undergone surgery to fix plates and screws in his shoulder.
“Due to the injury, my client cannot work properly with his left shoulder. He has paid hefty medical bills and suffered mentally and physically. The claimant deserves, based on Article 292 of the Civil Transactions Law, compensation against his financial, medical, mental, and moral damages,” said Hagag.
