UAE leaders send well wishes to Pope Francis amid hospitalization

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a telegram to Pope Francis, expressing his wishes for the pontiff’s swift recovery as he remains hospitalized for double pneumonia. Sheikh Mohamed also extended his hopes for the pope’s continued well-being, WAM reported.

Similar messages of support were sent by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

Pope Francis was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli hospital on February 14 after experiencing breathing difficulties for several days. The Vatican confirmed he had pneumonia in both lungs, requiring supplemental oxygen and blood transfusions.

Despite initial concerns, the Vatican reported that the pope had a “tranquil” night on Sunday and was able to rest. His condition was previously described as “critical,” but his recovery is being closely monitored.
