The UAE has officially declared the beginning of Ramadan on Monday, March 11, following the sighting of the crescent moon, with the country’s leaders conveying warm wishes to mark the occasion.
President Sheikh Mohamed shared his heartfelt greetings as the announcement was made, extending his best wishes to all observing the sacred month.

“As Ramadan commences, I extend my sincerest wishes to everyone participating in this holy period,” he remarked. “May this time of reflection and prayer bring us closer together, reinforcing our bonds of unity and compassion. I wish you all a blessed Ramadan filled with peace, harmony, and spiritual growth.”
Echoing his sentiments, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, emphasized the significance of Ramadan as a time to strengthen communal ties and embody values of kindness and generosity.

As per Islamic tradition, the sighting of the moon heralds the start of the new month. With the crescent sighted on the evening prior to the announcement, the preceding month of Sha’ban concluded at 29 days, marking the commencement of Ramadan 1 on March 11.
