The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a red alert for fog, warning residents of a significant drop in horizontal visibility. The alert, active from 4am to 9am on September 11, advises extreme caution as weather conditions worsen.
A yellow alert was previously issued at 2am, indicating the presence of fog and urging residents to stay informed, especially if engaging in outdoor activities.
Key areas affected by fog include Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Road, Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Road, Dubai-Al Ain Road, and other locations in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Speed reduction systems have been activated in Abu Dhabi, and motorists are advised to drive carefully.
This is the second consecutive day of red alert due to dense fog, signaling a shift in weather as the UAE transitions to cooler days. Following the sighting of the Suhail star in August, the country is in the 40-day ‘Sufriya’ period, marking a gradual drop in temperatures.
Today’s forecast predicts fair to partly cloudy weather, with humid conditions at night. More fog or mist is expected on Thursday morning, particularly in coastal and internal areas.
