Wynn Resorts, a prominent hotel and casino operator from Las Vegas, has been granted the UAE’s first commercial gaming operator’s licence by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA). The news was confirmed by GCGRA in a Khaleej Times report.
Wynn Resorts is constructing the region’s first integrated gaming resort, Wynn Al Marjan Island, situated on a 62-hectare island extending into the Arabian Gulf. The resort is expected to open in early 2027 and will include non-gaming facilities, offering 1,542 rooms and suites, along with 22 private villa estates. It will be Wynn’s first beachfront property among its global locations.
The GCGRA, responsible for overseeing commercial gaming activities in the UAE, has issued only one other licence to date, allowing Abu Dhabi-based The Game LLC to operate the country’s first authorised lottery earlier this year. Further details regarding Wynn’s licence were not disclosed by the authority.
