UAE introduces family group tourist visa: Children under 18 exempted from fees

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a family group tourist visa that allows parents and their children to apply collectively. The highlight of this initiative is the exemption of visa fees for children under 18 when they are traveling with their parents. This visa application can be made exclusively via authorised travel agencies, both within and outside the UAE, as clarified by a senior official.

Brigadier General Khalaf Al-Ghaith, Assistant Director General of the Entry and Residence Permits Sector, further informed Gulf News that this offer is solely available for tourist visa applications processed through travel agencies.

Details about the Family Group Visa:

  • Intended for single applications for families traveling together.
  • Travel agencies can apply for short-term tourist visas that last between 30 to 60 days. These can be extended up to a maximum of 120 days, with the extension application submitted before the original visa expires.

Visa Application Process:

To apply, families need to:

  • Submit a passport copy (valid for a minimum of six months)
  • Provide a passport-sized photograph.

For complete details and documentation, prospective visitors can refer to the GDFRA website: https://smart.gdrfad.gov.ae.

Entry Visa for GCC Country Residents:

Foreigners residing in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries can now also obtain an entry visa to the UAE for up to 30 days, which can be extended once. The application process is facilitated through digital channels, available 24/7.

Application Steps:

  • Visit https://smart.gdrfad.gov.ae.
  • Register as a user.
  • Select the desired service.
  • Enter accurate details, including the full name.
  • Pay the required fees.
  • Post-approval, the visa is emailed to the user.

Note: Ensuring the accuracy of information is crucial, as incomplete data will lead to application rejection.

Historically, visitors to the UAE would have to physically obtain a visa approval which could take a couple of hours. Marking a significant upgrade, the UAE government now offers an electronic visa application process, allowing travelers, even those outside the UAE, to secure their visas within minutes.
