An inmate at a Ras Al Khaimah correctional facility experienced a poignant first meeting with his eight-month-old son on Father’s Day, as part of a family reunion initiative by the Ras Al Khaimah Police. The reunion, according to a Khaleej Times report, allowed the prisoner to hold his son, who was born during his incarceration, for the first time. The event, shared on social media, also included visits from his wife and two daughters.
The family expressed their gratitude towards the RAK Police for facilitating this touching moment. Colonel Abdullah Al-Haymer, the director of the Penal and Reformative Foundation at RAK Police, emphasized that the initiative aimed to bolster familial ties and enhance communication.
Psychologist Wafa bin Yaqoub highlighted the positive psychological impacts such initiatives have on both the inmates and their families, especially for those serving lengthy sentences.
