The days of worrying about leaving your driving licence at home are now behind for Dubai residents. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) now allows motorists to add a digital version of their driving licences to their Apple wallets.
For many residents, the norm has been to store a photo backup of their driving licence on their smartphones or saving the digital card in their files. With the introduction of the digital card in Apple wallets, accessing the licence becomes a hassle-free experience. A simple double-click of the iPhone’s side button will open the e-wallet, where the licence, alongside other cards, will be readily available.
To benefit from this feature, residents need to:
Download and open the RTA app.
Set up an account for first-time users and link the relevant traffic files.
Navigate to “My Docs” from the five buttons/icons on the app’s home page.
Click the “My License” tab to view the digital version of the licence.
Select the “Add to Apple Wallet” option to have the licence integrated into the e-wallet.
In addition to the driving licence, the vehicle licence can also be stored in the same manner. However, this feature currently remains exclusive to Apple users.
