UAE honeymoon trends revealed as couples embrace local and global getaways

As the UAE’s wedding season gains momentum with the cooling weather, new trends in honeymoon destinations are capturing the attention of newlyweds. Research from Expedia highlights how couples in the Emirates are planning their post-wedding escapes, showcasing a mix of luxurious staycations, regional charm, and exotic global adventures.

Locally, staycations are gaining popularity, with Ras Al Khaimah emerging as the top destination, boasting an 85% year-on-year increase in interest. Dubai also remains a favorite, seeing a 25% rise in searches. Luxury hotels such as the One&Only One Za’abeel and The Lana – Dorchester Collection rank among the most sought-after choices for couples celebrating their new beginnings.

Regionally, honeymooners are favoring short-haul flights to destinations like Baku, Azerbaijan, which has experienced a 230% surge in searches, and Doha, Qatar, with a 135% rise. These cities offer a mix of cultural experiences, scenic landscapes, and vibrant dining scenes, making them perfect for romantic escapes.

For those looking further afield, global destinations also hold strong appeal. Bangkok’s tropical allure has drawn significant interest, with a 130% increase in searches, while London’s winter charm and iconic landmarks see a 105% rise. Closer to home, Egypt’s Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh are standout honeymoon hotspots, experiencing remarkable spikes of 970% and 545% respectively, thanks to their pristine beaches and luxury resorts.

Expedia’s findings also reveal a surge in flight searches to Manila (+155%) and Cairo (+140%), reflecting the growing demand for both romantic and cultural getaways.
