A 30-year-old man survived a severe car crash in Abu Dhabi, thanks to a marathon nine-hour surgery at Madinat Zayed Hospital. According to a Khaleej Times report, the patient, who sustained a serious head injury, was rushed to the hospital, where a team of specialists worked tirelessly through the night to save his life.
The complex operation, which began at 10:30 p.m. and concluded at 7:30 a.m. the following day, involved multiple stages of critical care. Initially admitted to the ICU, the man was stabilized by a team led by Dr. Mostafa ElShahat, who managed his oxygen levels and stabilized his vital signs, including blood pressure and blood flow.
Following this, he underwent neurosurgery under the expertise of Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Khanchour. The team removed a section of his skull to prevent brain damage from bone fragments caused by the crash. After the neurosurgery, the patient required further maxillofacial surgery to address fractures around his eyes, forehead, and cheekbones. This procedure, led by Dr. Zakaria Ahmad Mohamed, was crucial in preventing complications such as nerve damage, infection, or permanent disfigurement.
The patient is now recovering, and his condition is reported to be stable, thanks to the coordinated efforts of the medical team.
