The UAE is expanding its humanitarian efforts with the establishment of a new field hospital in the Gaza Strip, as reported by the official Emirates News Agency (WAM). This initiative is under the directive of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and aims to deliver critical medical assistance to the Palestinian people.
In a significant logistical operation, a fleet of five aircraft took off from Abu Dhabi International Airport on Monday, laden with vital medical equipment and supplies destined for Gaza. The convoy will initially transport the cargo to Egypt, from which it will be conveyed into the Gaza Strip.
The upcoming 150-bed medical facility is designed to be comprehensive, featuring departments that cover a range of healthcare needs, including general surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, and gynecology. It will also be equipped with anesthesia and intensive care units for both children and adults.
Additional services at the field hospital will encompass internal medicine, dentistry, psychiatry, and family medicine clinics. For diagnostic and support purposes, the center will include CT imaging capabilities, a fully functional laboratory, and a pharmacy.
In a broader commitment to healthcare support for Palestinians, the UAE has committed to facilitating medical treatment for approximately 1,000 Palestinian children in UAE hospitals. Alongside the field hospital, the UAE has pledged an additional $20 million in urgent aid to Palestine, reinforcing its dedication to international humanitarian assistance.
