The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Court has ordered a woman and her minor son to pay a fine of Dh20,000 for the assault of a child, as detailed in court records. The incident occurred between the children, who were previously friends, leading to an altercation that resulted in physical injuries to the victim.
The case was brought to the court’s attention following a complaint lodged by the father of the injured minor. He sought Dh100,000 in compensation for the physical, psychological, and emotional harm his child suffered due to the assault. The Arabic daily Emarat Al Youm reported that, while the defendants were found guilty, the court mandated a penalty significantly less than the demanded amount.
The judgment stipulates that the woman and her son must jointly compensate the victim with Dh10,000. Additionally, they are each required to pay a fine of Dh5,000 and cover all legal expenses related to the case.
