UAE court convicts 53 individuals and six companies in terrorism case

The Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeals’ State Security Division convicted 53 members of the terrorist-designated Muslim Brotherhood and six companies associated with the Justice and Dignity Organisation. The court handed down sentences ranging from life imprisonment to substantial financial penalties amounting to Dh20 million.

Forty-three of the accused were sentenced to life imprisonment for their roles in establishing and managing the Justice and Dignity Organisation to conduct terrorist activities within the UAE. Additionally, five individuals received 15-year terms for disseminating anti-state propaganda via social media, linked to the outlawed Reform Call Organization.

Five more were sentenced to 10 years and fined Dh10 million each for money laundering offenses related to terrorist funding. The court also ordered the dissolution of six involved companies, levying Dh20 million fines against each and seizing all their assets.

While 24 suspects accused of supporting the Reform Call Organization financially were dismissed of charges, one individual was fully acquitted. This judgment is open to appeal at the Federal Supreme Court. The court’s decision follows extensive trials over more than ten sessions, ensuring all legal rights were upheld for the defendants.
