In response to the heavy rainfall wreaking havoc in Davao de Oro Province in the southern Philippines a few weeks ago, the UAE has stepped in to extend a helping hand. Thousands of individuals grappling with the aftermath of floods and landslides in the Elizalde district are set to receive vital food supplies courtesy of the UAE.
The dire situation, which has tragically led to numerous fatalities, injuries, and missing persons, prompted the UAE to take action. Mohamed Obaid Alqataam Alzaabi, UAE Ambassador to the Philippines, emphasized the significance of aiding those affected by natural calamities. He stated, “Dispatching food supplies is part of the UAE’s commitment to provide essential relief in times of crisis, particularly natural disasters that result in severe food shortages, and require intervention to support affected citizens.”
Alzaabi reassured that the UAE’s support won’t wane, asserting their ongoing dedication to assisting the flood-stricken region of Davao de Oro. This initiative reflects the UAE’s unwavering solidarity with nations facing adversities.
Rex Gatchalian, Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development of the Republic of the Philippines, conveyed gratitude towards the UAE and its leadership for extending humanitarian aid during this challenging period.
