The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has confirmed that the fines for overstaying due to delays in visa or residence permit renewals remain unchanged.
According to a Gulf News report citing the ICP’s website, once a residence visa in the UAE expires, sponsors must promptly renew it within the specified period to avoid fines or legal repercussions. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) allows a 30-day grace period following the cancellation of residency in the UAE.
The updated visa system has increased the fine for overstaying after the expiration of the residence period from Dh25 to Dh50 per day. If an application is returned for incomplete data and not processed on the same day, additional fines will apply for each day of delay. Applications will be canceled electronically after 30 days if returned due to incomplete data or missing documents and will be canceled after three returns for the same reasons.
The fine for overstaying on a visit visa has been reduced from Dh100 to Dh50 per day. Fines for violations under 30 days can be paid at Dubai airports or the GDRFA main building, while fines for violations exceeding 30 days must be settled at the GDRFA.
The fines for overstaying after the grace period following residency expiration are:
Dh25 per day for the first six months (180 days)
Dh50 per day for the next six months
Dh100 per day after one year or more
