Residents across the UAE have been relishing in the extensive 9-day Eid Al Fitr holiday, accompanied by cloudy skies and scattered rains in certain areas. As the festivities draw to a close on April 14, it’s time for both public and private sector employees to return to work on Monday. However, the weather forecast presents a varied outlook, with stormy conditions anticipated to affect regions such as Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the forthcoming week.
Monday is set to commence with a blend of sunshine amidst clouds, but residents should prepare for thunderstorms expected to roll in by the afternoon. Daytime temperatures are forecasted to reach a warm 31°C, with thunderstorms likely to develop as the day progresses into the evening, accompanied by a high probability of rainfall, peaking at an 80% chance during the night.
Dr Ahmed Habib, a climate expert from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), highlighted in a Khaleej Times report the influence of low-pressure systems traversing the region from west to east, potentially intensifying cloud cover and increasing the likelihood of rainfall. Tuesday is anticipated to see continued thunderstorm activity, accompanied by cooler temperatures around 28°C and southeast winds ranging from 24 to 40 km/h. An 80% chance of rain persists, with residents urged to remain vigilant regarding potential flash floods.
Wednesday brings a respite from the stormy weather, with sunshine expected alongside intermittent clouds and a temperature of approximately 27°C. Rapid fluctuations in weather patterns are projected throughout the week, with thunderstorms dominating the initial forecast before giving way to clearer skies towards midweek.
Residents and motorists are advised to exercise caution during thunderstorms, as heavy rainfall may lead to localized flooding in certain areas. Precautionary measures, including avoiding flooded areas and adherence to traffic regulations, are recommended to ensure safety amidst the changing weather conditions in the UAE.
