UAE aviation authority bans drones and amateur aircraft for one week

Violators face legal consequences after the General Civil Aviation Authority imposed an immediate, week-long halt on all flight permits covering gliders, drones, and amateur aircraft of every category operating in the country’s airspace.

The authority cited prevailing circumstances and the need to strengthen airspace protection as the basis for the ban, though no specific incident or threat was identified in its announcement.

“Compliance with this decision is mandatory, and any violation will subject the perpetrator to the legal procedures in force in the country,” the authority stated.

A formal review will take place before the suspension lapses, at which point officials will determine whether flight activity can resume or whether the restrictions must be extended.
