The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) in Abu Dhabi has initiated an investigation following reports of cats being left stranded in the desert. This comes after videos depicting the felines in a desolate state circulated widely on social media platforms, eliciting shock and concern from animal rescue groups.
DMT representatives have stated that the probe began as soon as the reports were received and have committed to implementing “relevant administrative and legal measures” in response.
These unsettling videos prompted numerous volunteers to rush to the location and rescue the distressed animals. The DMT is now keen on discovering the circumstances that led to this situation. “Investigations are still underway in coordination with the relevant authorities to identify perpetrators of this inhumane act, which contradicts civilised morals and values,” a DMT spokesperson mentioned.
Recognizing and valuing the public’s sentiment and the efforts of volunteers, the DMT has encouraged them to come forward with any pertinent information about this incident. Furthermore, they have requested residents to be vigilant and report any signs of animal abuse or neglect by contacting 800-555.
