A circulating message on WhatsApp within the travel and tourism industry is causing confusion among agents and passengers in the UAE. The message suggests that travelers holding a visa issued from Dubai are barred from entering the country via airports in Abu Dhabi or Sharjah, with claims of deportation for violators.
However, skepticism surrounds the validity of this information. Bharath Aidasani, Managing Partner at Pluto Travels, stated in a Khaleej Times report, “This news has been circulating for a few days and nothing has been announced officially. I don’t think this is possible as visa holders can enter any airport in the UAE.”
The confusion has led to a surge in queries from concerned travelers seeking clarification. Firoz Maliyakkal, Founder and CEO of Tahira Tours and Travels, commented, “Our phones have been continuously ringing since the circular came out. Travellers are bothered about this circular, but the information is not accurate.”
Despite the circulating message, travelers like Indian tourist Akram Ahmed have experienced smooth arrivals. “I encountered no issues at the airport, despite having a Dubai-issued visa – there was no problem at all,” he confirmed.
Travel agents have reached out to authorities for clarification. Libin Varghese from Rooh Travel and Tourism stated, “We want to assure the public that we are actively investigating the matter and have found no concrete evidence to validate the deportation claims mentioned in the circular.”
Additionally, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security confirmed the circular as unfounded. A customer care agent stated, “Passengers traveling with a visa from Dubai can enter the country through any UAE airport.”
Amidst the confusion, passengers are advised to rely on verified sources for travel decisions. Firoz emphasized, “Travellers are advised to stay informed through official channels and consult with their respective travel agents for the most up-to-date and reliable information.”
