UAE art exhibit to feature twelve Filipino visual artists reimagining culture and identity

The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai is set to unveil the fourth edition of Museo sa Konsulado, a visual art exhibition spotlighting contemporary Filipino artists based in the UAE. The event, in partnership with the Fil Arts Guild in the Emirates (FAGE), opens on April 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Consulate premises.

This year’s exhibit, held under the Labindalawa cultural initiative, features 12 Filipino artists whose works delve into themes of memory, migration, identity, and urban life. Among the participating names are Emilia Castus, Faith Gaufo, Tamer Karam, Ryan Murao, Irish Ponce, Carl Bryan Saldivar, Nemar Sencil, Cyril Anne Sinay, Kharen Tacmo, and Marlon Tuyco.

Blending realism with abstraction and experimental forms, the exhibit offers a vibrant look at the lived experiences and artistic expressions of overseas Filipinos. It also reflects the Consulate’s continued efforts to make art more accessible and meaningful for its kababayans.

“This installation of Museo sa Konsulado is a compelling portrait of what it means to be Filipino in the Emirates—rooted, expressive, and ever evolving,” said Consul General Marford M. Angeles. “Through the lens of our artists, we see how culture serves as both anchor and compass for overseas communities navigating globalization and multiculturalism.”

The exhibit also supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, especially in education, decent work, reducing inequalities, building inclusive cities, and promoting partnerships.
