Private sector employees in the UAE will celebrate New Year’s Day on January 1, 2025, with a public holiday, as announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).
The announcement, made on Friday, follows the UAE Cabinet’s approved calendar for public holidays applicable to both government and private sectors.
Employers requiring staff to work on the holiday must adhere to labor laws regarding compensations or adjustments, as outlined by the MoHRE.
Earlier in the day, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) also confirmed the holiday for federal government entities.
