UAE announces Eid Al Fitr holiday dates for public sector

With Eid Al Fitr fast approaching, the UAE has officially confirmed holiday dates for federal government employees. The public sector will observe a break from 1st to 3rd Shawwal 1446 AH, with work resuming on 4th Shawwal.

If Ramadan lasts 30 days, an extra holiday will be granted on Sunday, March 30, extending the Eid break by one day. However, this will be determined by the moon sighting committee.

In Gregorian calendar terms:

  • If Ramadan is 29 days, the holiday is expected from Sunday, March 30, to Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
  • If Ramadan extends to 30 days, the break will be from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
The final confirmation depends on the official moon sighting, expected on Friday, March 28.
