UAE among world’s least corrupt nations, scoring 68 in global index

The UAE has once again emerged as the most transparent country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, ranking 23rd worldwide in the 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) released by Transparency International. The country secured a score of 68 out of 100, reinforcing its position among the least corrupt nations globally.

The UAE outperformed several advanced economies, including Austria, France, Taiwan, the Bahamas, and the United States. The CPI evaluates 180 countries based on perceived public sector corruption, using a scale where zero represents the highest level of corruption and 100 indicates the lowest.

Despite its strong ranking, Transparency International’s report underscores ongoing global challenges in fighting corruption. Over two-thirds of nations scored below 50, with the global average stagnating at 43, signaling an urgent need for reforms. The report also warns that corruption remains a significant obstacle to effective climate action worldwide.
