UAE airlines extend flight cancellations amid escalating Israel-Iran conflict

Several UAE-based airlines have extended flight cancellations as airspace closures across the Middle East continue to wreak havoc on global flight routes due to the intensifying conflict between Israel and Iran.

Emirates airline confirmed on Sunday that it has suspended operations to Amman and Beirut until June 22, while flights to Tehran, Baghdad, and Basra are halted until June 30. The airline also warned that passengers with connections to affected cities will not be accepted for travel until further notice. “Customers connecting through Dubai with final destinations in Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon… will not be accepted for travel at their point of origin,” Emirates stated.

Flydubai has also halted services to Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria until June 16, with flights to Iran, Iraq, and Israel suspended until June 20. Flights to Minsk and St. Petersburg are affected until June 17. The airline apologized for the inconvenience and assured that operations will resume where conditions allow. “The safety of our passengers and crew remains our highest priority,” flydubai said.

Air Arabia and Etihad Airways also reported disruptions. Air Arabia cancelled and delayed several flights until June 15, notifying affected travelers via SMS and email. Meanwhile, Etihad suspended all flights between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv until June 22 and rerouted others to avoid closed airspace.

According to flight tracking platform Flightradar24, around 3,000 flights per day are being affected either by cancellation or diversion due to closures in Iran, Iraq, Jordan, and Israel.

Airports across the UAE have urged passengers to confirm flight schedules before heading out. Zayed International Airport and Dubai Airports issued advisories on social media warning travelers of ongoing delays and cancellations due to the regional airspace shutdown.
